Childbirth Class: Four Week Program

Build your confidence as you learn different ways to labor. Gain a sense of trust in your body's ability to give birth. Partners will find out how to help you through labor with touch and words. Learn about pain relief, newborn safety and newborn care. Tour "The Birthplace".
7 - 9 P.M.

Weekend Childbirth Class

Happiest Baby On The Block

Find the off switch for your baby's crying and learn an easy way to soothe your baby. This new way to calm crying will help your baby sleep longer. This class is for expectant, new, or experienced parents, childcare providers and grandparents. You will receive a valuable take home gift at the end of class.

Breastfeeding Class

Gather information to help decide if breastfeeding is right for you. Learn easy steps to begin breastfeeding and the important role fathers play in breastfeeding. Breastfeeding and returning to work or school is possible. Find out how to pump and store breastmilk.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters

A one-hour class to help prepare children ages three to eight for a new baby. Children learn how a baby acts, how to hold a baby and ways they can help and be involved.
7-8 P.M.

Bring: A doll or stuffed animal for diapering and holding.

Boot Camp for New Dads

Dads-to-Be learn practical tips from men. You may want to parent the same or different from your own dad. Get the straight talk on helping your partner through birth, calming both mother and baby when they cry and how to deal with in-laws.

World Breastfeeding Week Display

Susquehanna Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Health have joined forces to bring you this informative display on the benefits to mom and baby with breastfeeding. Come in and learn about why breastfeeding is the healthiest, most convenient and least expensive way to feed your baby. Tips and information on pumping and storing breast milk as well as common concerns also covered.
*Please remember that the LifeCenter is available Monday-Friday from 10 A.M. - 5 P.M. for moms (and dads) to feed and change their baby in comfort. Baby scale, emergency diapers/wipes and movies, books, and crayons/coloring books available to entertain older children while mom cares for baby.

Pregnant For The First Time?

If you are expecting your first baby and meet certain income guidelines, you may be eligible for a little extra help at no cost to you. Susquehanna Home Care's maternal child nurses, through a grant from the Nurse Family Partnership program, visit mothers during their pregnancy and after birth until their child's second birthday. These specially trained Registered Nurses provide education and support as they care for new mothers and their babies in their homes. The Healthy Beginnings Program covers the fee for class. Other insurance companies may reimburse you directly when you present your receipt.

Directions To The Birthplace at The Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center

Enter through the Gibson Rehabilitation entrance and take the A elevator to the 5th floor. Turn right off the elevator to the Childbirth Education area. In case of bad weather, listen to KISS FM (102.7) or call the Information Center at 570-321-2273. Always put your safety first when deciding whether or not to travel to class.
