I’m an active guy. I like to bowl, hunt, play golf and run around with my grandkids every chance I get. And in the last 32 years at my job with the Postal Service, I was on my feet probably 16 to 18 hours at a time.
The problem started back in 1981 when I took my youngest boy hunting. I slipped and fell, and popped the ball joint in my hip. Now, I’ve got a very high tolerance for pain, so I just lived with it. But after twenty-something years, it just wasn’t getting any better. So my physician recommended Dr. Michael Hoffman.
According to Dr. Hoffman, my right hip socket was completely filled with calcium. It wasn’t working at all. He told me something had to be done, or the pain would get worse. What shocked me was that he said I’d be back to normal in a month or so! He explained that because they use a new technique called Anterior Hip Replacement, the recovery time is much faster.
When I arrived at Susquehanna Health, they already knew who I was and why I was there. All of the nurses and physical therapists over there were super great. And sure enough, Dr. Hoffman was right. The day after surgery, I was walking again with a walker. And five weeks after that, I was bowling!
Thanks to Dr. Hoffman and Susquehanna Health, I ran up the steps in my house the other day. And I haven’t done that in probably 15 years!
